NEPC, KEDA, CBN, NASSI TO ESTABLISH EXPORT PROCESSING VILLAGE IN KOGI STATE
The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) in partnership with Kogi Enterprise Development Agency (KEDA), Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Nigerian Association of Small Scale Industrialists (NASSI) to start the implementation process of Export Processing Village (EPV) in Kogi State.
This was disclosed in a stakeholders engagement/focal group session on export processing village organised by NEPC which took place at AKK Hotel, Lokoja on Thursday, 2nd June, 2022.
Speaking at the meeting, Nigeria Export Promotion Council Trade Promotion Advisor Lokoja Smart Office; Mrs Amina Abdulmalik noted the export potentials in the state and the best way to harness these potentials by transforming the state into a processing hub for export. She further stated the roles of private partners and the critical roles the government and regulatory agencies need to play to actualize the export dream.
According to her, this necessitated the stakeholders engagement to further discuss ways to actualize this objective.
The Kogi Enterprise Development Agency, MD/CEO, Hajiya Rekiya Onaivo Sanni represented by the Executive Director, Operations, Mr Akinola Akinyemi alongside Mr Ogu Daniel, Head, ICT Enhancement, and Mr Dahiru Ohinoyi, Field Operations Manager commended the efforts of NEPC in fostering business growth in the State. She highlighted some of the efforts of KEDA so far in helping MSMEs in the State, which include: the sensitization programmes for the implementation of Kogi COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (KG-CARES) as well as other SME policies geared toward stimulating the economy of Kogi State.
The EPV has been segmented and the project will be implemented across Kogi State.
