Development

MORE NEW DIRECTION ROADS

One of the major metropolis roads approved last year by His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello, is the Usman Hassan Katsina Road, which is currently undergoing total asphalt overlay with the flanking drainages undergoing fullscale reconstruction.

The 11 kilometeres long road, popularly known as Zone 8 – Crusher Road, has been divided into four sections. The first section starts from the Zone 8 roundabout and terminates at the end of the Confluence stadium perimeter fence.

According to Engineer Dr. Yunusah Hassan, MD. Kogi State Road Maintenance Agency (KOGROMA), the first section is about 80% completed. While work on the second section will soon commence.

Dr. Yunusa made an appeal to road users and the general public on avoiding dumping waste in the drainage system, one of the major problems currently militating against the durability of roads around the state. The blocked drainages flood the road itself which accelerates normal wear and tear.

The Head of Civil Engineering, Engr. Steve Bolaji Taiye, said that men and equipments are on ground and the agency will work round the clock to make sure the job is completed on time. He added that the last part of Ibrahim Taiwo Road will also be completed as soon as possible.

Hon. Moses Okezie-Okafor, the Director-General, Research and Development, Kogi State commended Governor Bello for his unrelenting commitment to improving the lives of Kogites with transformational infrastructure. Barr. Okezie-Okafor, whose team designed and monitors progress on the New Direction Blueprint noted that the Governor remained 100% serious about expanding the developmental footprint of his tenure.

‘His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has remained relentless in his push to leave the people of Kogi State a legacy of infrastructure development on a magnitude that is both bigger than any effort by previous administrations and simultaneously sets a challenge for his successors.’
