Thousands of supporters were in attendance at Eagle Square in Abuja when the governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, formally declared his intention to run for president in the 2023 general election.
The governor said he is ready to build on President Muhammadu Buhari’s achievements. He added that he would replicate what he did in Kogi State across the country if elected as president in 2023.
Bello also promised to eradicate poverty in Nigeria. He promised to achieve Buhari’s aim of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty during his administration.
He added that 20 million Nigerians will be made millionaires by his administration if he is elected as president.
The former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, was also present at the event.
Hafsat Abiola-Costello, daughter of the presumed winner of the June 1993 presidential election, the late Moshood Abiola, has been named as Yahaya Bello’s presidential campaign Director-General.
