Kogi State Government Approves Major Road Rehabilitation And Reconstruction Projects
His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State, has approved a comprehensive rehabilitation and reconstruction plan for several rural access roads spread across the state. The projects aim to improve transportation infrastructure, enhance agricultural productivity, and boost the overall socio-economic development of rural communities.
The rehabilitation and reconstruction projects, which are set to commence immediately after the 2024 Eid-ul-Adha holidays this weekend, beside facilitating general movement for citizens, will enhance farm access which is of paramount importance as the State Government pours billions of naira into wet season farming as part of her Blueprint for achieving food security.
The roads approved for this first phase of the programme include the following:
1. Egbe Township Road, Egbe, Yagba West LGA
2. Idah Township Road, Idah LGA
3. Abejukolo Township Road, Abejukolo, Omala LGA
4. Aiyetoro Township Road, Aiyetoro, Ijumu LGA
5. Felele-Agbaja Road, Felele/Agbaja, Lokoja LGA
6. Oguma Township Road, Oguma, Bassa LGA
7. Anyigba Township Road, Anyigba, Dekina LGA
8. Mopa Township Road, Mopa, Mopamuro LGA
In addition to the road projects, Governor Ododo had earlier approved the complete overhaul of the equipment inventory for the Kogi State Road Maintenance Agency (KOGROMA). This is to ensure that KOGROMA is well-equipped to carry out its mandate of going beyond routine maintenance to improvement of existing road infrastructure across the confluence state. Under the supervision of Engr Dr Yunusa Alhassan, Managing Director of KOGROMA, and his team comprising Engr Bolaji Steven (Head of Civil) and Engr Joel Ocheni (Head of Mechanicals), all KOGROMA equipment has been repaired and is ready for deployment to various project sites.
This news was released by Barr. Ehimoni SJ Moni, the Director-General of the Kogi State Bureau for Public Procurement, indicating that all procurement requirements for the projects have been completed and approved in line with the Kogi State Government’s to maintain adherence to existing due process mandates.
These road rehabilitation and reconstruction projects show how dedicated Governor Ododo is to improving the lives of his people through strategic investments in critical infrastructure, and they are expected stimulate a positive impact on the standard of living of rural and semi-urban communities across the state.
